Millions of Overseas Working Filipinos (OFW) send monthly remittances to their families and loved ones through bank transfers. And SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) codes are typically used when transferring money between banks worldwide.
Each bank has its own unique SWIFT codes consisting of 8 or 11 characters. The code is a combination of letters and numbers. The four (4) letters indicate the bank or institution code, two (2) letter indicate the country and two (2) letters or digits serve as a location code of the bank’s main office. If the code has 11 characters, the last three (3) characters are the branch codes.
If you are an OFW or you receive remittances from one, it is important to take note of these SWIFT codes to ensure smooth inter-bank transfers.
When sending money, ask the SWIFT Code of the recipient’s bank. The SWIFT code is often indicated in the bank statements. But to save you time, here is a comprehensive list of SWIFT codes of local Philippine banks.
